Picsolve to capture guest reactions on the Wicker Man

Digital content solutions specialist Picsolve has installed it’s advanced on-ride image capture solution on Alton Towers’ incendiary new wooden coaster, Wicker Man.

Rider’s ‘scream’ moments are captured using multi-shot cameras with burst capabilities, which ensure that riders in every row are photographed. The cameras are also designed to automatically adjust to the environment, so that the image quality remains unaffected by environmental factors, including weather.

Additional features include shutterless digital capture, which is designed to ensure there is no blurring up to speeds of 120 kmph, and high-speed fiber-optic technology, which transfers the images from the point of capture to retail in seconds.

Wicker Man will also be one of the rides included in Picsolve’s DigiPass, which enables visitors to collect all of their digital images from their time in the park at once.

In addition visitors will also be able to purchase a range of printed and digital merchandise, including a limited edition Wicker Man photography presentation box which includes a 3D frame for their favourite photos and a numbered wooden block from the ride itself.

Anika Devaney, head of Marketing Communications at Picsolve, said: "It was important to us to provide a photography experience that matches this wonderful innovation. We’re proud to continue building our partnership with Merlin Entertainments."

"We’ve been partners with Alton Towers Resort for over 20 years - delivering reliable, fast and innovative content capture solutions for the resort and its visitors. With the addition of Wicker Man, Picsolve now has 19 content capture operations across the resort," she added.

Wicker Man, which opens to the public on 24 March, was developed by Merlin Magic Making in partnership with Great Coasters International. It is the first wooden coaster to open in the UK in more than 20 years, and, Merlin claims, is the first ride of its kind to fuse wood and fire.
